Dr. Rene Wiedner

Biography

Prior to becoming an academic, Rene Wiedner worked in human resources consulting and investor relations consulting in information services. He obtained his PhD in management studies at Cambridge University and holds a Magister degree in International Business Administration from WU Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, along with an MPhil degree in Innovation, Strategy & Organisation from Cambridge Judge Business School. His research focuses on understanding stability, change, coordination, and collaboration within organizations, especially in health and social care and creative industries. Rene has conducted significant research on changes within health care systems and management practices in the National Health Service (NHS), funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Collaborations Leadership Applied Health Research Care (CLAHRC). He is currently leading a study on navigating dementia care services and another study focused on preserving traditional crafts and old technologies. Theoretically, Rene draws mainly from sociology, with strong interests in continental philosophy and social psychology. Methodologically, he predominantly conducts case studies utilizing archival data, interviews, and non-participant observation. He currently serves as the Research Environment Lead and is a representative of the doctoral program in the Organisation Work group at Warwick Business School, while also being a member of the Academy of Management Journal's editorial review board.
