Rhona Brown is a Lecturer in Education Studies at the University of Glasgow. Her journey in education began as an English language teacher over 25 years ago, working in Hungary, Turkey, and the UK. She has since transitioned into teacher education, initially in Scotland and then in countries such as Tanzania, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Before starting her doctoral studies, she served as the Head of Education Programmes for the British Council in Nepal. Her research interests focus on the intersections of pedagogies, learning, and language teacher education, particularly within the educational contexts of the Global South. She is dedicated to exploring equitable research partnerships and has worked on multiple initiatives related to teacher agency and educational practices in various international settings. Rhona completed her PhD in Education at the University of Glasgow in 2022, where her research investigated primary children’s educators’ perceptions and experiences of home, neighborhood, and school learning environments in Tanzania. She is currently a Principal Investigator on the project Teacher Agency Innovation Tanzania (TAIT) and actively participates in the Glasgow Comparative International Education Research (GLACIER) Network. Rhona is committed to using creative qualitative methods to enhance understanding of teaching and learning dynamics across diverse educational landscapes.
