Biography

Rikke Vang Christensen is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen's Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics. Her research focuses on children's language disorders, particularly developmental language disorders. She has expertise in identifying characteristics of language disorders, including grammatical features that pose particular difficulties for Danish children. Rikke is also interested in identifying language learning impairments and has conducted research on language processing tasks, such as nonword repetition and sentence repetition. Her intervention studies examine the effects of explicit intervention on language skills, especially vocabulary and syntax, among school-aged children with DLD. Rikke is currently the co-principal investigator in a large research project funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark, which aims to explore the role of syntactic proficiency in reading comprehension. In addition to her research, she teaches courses related to children's language disorders and supervises projects and theses in this field. Rikke earned her PhD in 2010 and has held various positions at the University of Copenhagen since then, including postdoctoral researcher and external lecturer.
