Biography

Arriving at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management in 1991, Robert Bloomfield has utilized laboratory experiments to study financial markets and investor behavior. His work has been published across major business disciplines, including finance, accounting, marketing, organizational behavior, and operations research. Bloomfield has served as the director of the Financial Accounting Standards Research Initiative and has been active at the Financial Accounting Standards Board. He currently serves as the editor of a special issue of the Journal of Accounting Research dedicated to Registered Reports in Empirical Research and has assumed editorship of the Journal of Financial Reporting. His editorial process is innovative, intended to broaden the range of research methods used in accounting, improve the quality of research execution, and encourage honest reporting of findings. As the faculty director of eLearning, he oversees the development of online courses and assists faculty in incorporating technology into traditional courses. Bloomfield is also the author of the award-winning ebook, 'Counts Gets Counted', which is available for free online and serves as a basis for online courses offered by eCornell, where he has received awards for teaching excellence in executive MBA programs.
