Biography

Robert F. Davis is an emeritus professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Davis is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society, as well as the Materials Research Society and TMS. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including the ALCOA Distinguished Research Award and the TMS John Bardeen Award for Research in Electronic Materials. Over his academic tenure, he has published more than 430 peer-reviewed papers and has authored or co-authored over 275 book chapters and edited proceedings. Additionally, Davis has contributed to the field by guest lecturing internationally and has been recognized for his innovation, receiving the National Collegiate Inventor of the Year Award in 1999. His research interests include the growth and characterization of semiconductor materials and related electronic devices.
