Biography

Robert VanWynsberghe focuses on resolving essential questions surrounding human action, social change, and the social roles within the classroom. His current research and teaching are centered on these themes, particularly how they contribute to the sustainability movement. His recent book, titled 'Adaptive Education: Inquiry-based Institution', proposes innovative pedagogical theories and practices. In 2016, he initiated an MEd program in Education Sustainability in partnership with the City of Vancouver, based on a successful model refined through CityStudio, which successfully graduated its first cohort of 15 students in fall 2018. Alongside this, a small group of educators began exploring ways to enhance the integration of sustainability in teacher education at UBC. As of September 2018, a sustainability cohort within the Teacher Education program at UBC has seen 36 pre-service teachers learning how to incorporate sustainability practices into their curriculum.
