Biography

Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano is a full professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Toronto Metropolitan University. She earned her PhD in Italian Studies from the University of Toronto in 2000. Her research focuses on Southern Italian dialectology and Molisan dialect literature, as well as the intersection of language and identity in ethnic contexts. Roberta has published several articles and edited collections, advancing scholarship in her field. She has also explored the representation of Italian food and authenticity in diasporic contexts. Additionally, she has a leadership role as President of the Canadian Association of Italian Studies and is Vice-President of the Italian-Canadian Archives Project. Roberta previously served as Associate Dean (Faculty Affairs) at York University and was involved in organizing the international conference "Italian Foodways Worldwide" in 2017, which she co-edited into a volume published in 2019.
