Biography

Robyn McConchie holds a BSc in Plant Science from Wye College, University of London, an MA in Education Work from Macquarie University, and a PhD from Louisiana State University. As a professor at the University of Sydney, she has over fifteen years of experience teaching and researching postharvest quality of perishable grain crops. She introduced the Bachelor of Food and Agribusiness program in 2014, aimed at attracting young talent to a dynamic industry. Robyn has also served as the Director of the Research Institute Asia Pacific and has led numerous international research projects in the Asia-Pacific region and Africa. Currently, she investigates postharvest handling techniques and pest protection methods aimed at improving food security in smallholder villages in Africa. Her other research interests include food safety practices, nutritional impacts, and facilitating sustainable agriculture. Robyn collaborates with various industry groups and academic institutions to enhance food production systems, focusing on quality assurance and safety standards.
