Dr. Rohan Rasiah

Biography

Rohan Rasiah is an Associate Professor in Rural Health at the Western Australian Centre for Rural Health based in Pilbara. He has a background as a practicing community pharmacist and was previously the Program Convenor for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) program at the University of Newcastle. His teaching expertise spans clinical pharmacotherapy and pharmacokinetics within rural health contexts, focusing on disease state management, communication skills, clinical leadership, and prescribing. He has significant experience in utilizing simulated learning environments to engage students and integrate core knowledge into practice, particularly for pharmacy health professional students in inter-professional settings. Rasiah is currently listed as a TEQSA Registered Expert in Pharmacy and has served as an academic representative on various committees, including the Accreditation Committee of the Australian Pharmacy Council. He has also held a position as Deputy President of the Academic Senate at the University of Newcastle from 2010 to 2012. His research interests include Simulated Learning Environments, Assessment, Quality Use of Medicines, Provision of Health Services in Remote Communities, Aboriginal Health, and Teaching and Learning Programs.
