Biography

Rosalyn Hyde holds a mathematics degree and a PGCE from the University of Southampton. She has worked in local schools for several years, taking on roles of responsibility within mathematics departments. Rosalyn is an active member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics and has been involved in various curriculum development projects. She holds a PhD, an MA in Education, and an MPhil in Research Methods. Formerly, she served as Chair of the Association of Mathematics Education Teachers and has worked as a Professional Development Officer for the Mathematical Association. With extensive experience in training mathematics teachers, she has planned and executed numerous curriculum development projects, collaborating with organizations such as BECTA, DCSF, and the Secondary National Strategy. Rosalyn co-edited several publications, including 'Mentoring Mathematics Teachers: Supporting Inspiring Pre-service Newly Qualified Teachers' and 'Myths and Legends of Mastery Mathematics Curriculum.' She is currently engaged with the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Rosalyn's research interests lie in Teacher Education, Secondary Mathematics Teacher Knowledge, and Teaching for Mastery approaches, focusing particularly on beginning teachers' perceptions and understandings of teaching mathematics in England.
