Professor Dr. Roy Suddaby

Biography

Roy Suddaby holds the Francis G. Winspear Chair at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria, Canada. He is an internationally recognized scholar in organizational theory and institutional change. His research emphasizes the critical role of symbolic resources such as legitimacy, authenticity, identity, and history in enhancing an organization's competitive positioning. Suddaby's current work investigates the evolving social and symbolic role of modern corporations at the intersection of craft, science, and innovation. He has served as an Associate Editor for the Academy of Management Perspectives and the Human Resources Management Journal, and has been involved in editorial duties for influential journals such as the Academy of Management Review and Administrative Science Quarterly. Suddaby has held various visiting and adjunct professor roles, including at Washington State University and Liverpool University Management School. He is also the Director of Quest Health Institute in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and has taught courses on Qualitative Methods and Organization Theory at the PhD level.
