Biography

Ryan Moore is an Assistant Professor at the School of Information at The University of Texas at Austin. His research examines the use of media technology across the lifespan, with a particular focus on older adults. He is interested in identifying how individuals, especially older adults, can effectively use media technology to pursue their everyday goals and understanding ways to help build resilience against online threats, scams, and forms of deception. Ryan employs a variety of methods in his work, including analysis of large-scale digital trace data, online lab experiments, surveys, content analysis, and techniques from computational linguistics. He has received several accolades, including top paper awards from the International Communication Association and the National Communication Association. His dissertation was awarded the Nathan Maccoby Dissertation Award from Stanford University, where he earned his PhD. Ryan is also a member of the Stanford Lab and the Stanford Lifespan Development Lab, and previously spent a year as a New Map of Life Fellow at the Stanford Center on Longevity.
