Biography

Sadam Issa is an Associate Professor of Arabic Studies in the Department of Linguistics, Languages, and Cultures. His research interests encompass discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, research anxiety in classrooms, the use of technology in education, visual rhetoric, and political cartoons. He has published articles in various journals including Al-‘Arabiyya, Pragmatics Society, and the Journal of Politeness Research. Currently, he is writing a book focused on Arabic political cartoons and is leading the Arabic Study Abroad Program in Amman, Jordan. Issa is a certified Oral Proficiency Interview tester with full certification from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). He has received several awards, including the Adams Academy Honors from Michigan State University in 2021, and the Open Educational Resources Leadership Awards.
