Dr. Sandra Ajaps

Biography

Sandra Ajaps is a lecturer at the Manchester Institute of Education, University of Manchester. Her academic interests lie in sustainability education, critical pedagogy, and decolonising education. She completed her PhD in Environmental Conservation Education at New York University, where her doctoral dissertation focused on decolonising Nigeria’s environmental education through participatory action research. She also holds an MPhil in Psychology Education from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Science in Geography Education from the University of Nigeria. Sandra teaches in several MA programmes, including International Education and Education for Sustainable Environment, and has contributed to courses on Sustainability Education and Engaging Educational Research. She is a member of the Green Research Education Group and the Power, Inequality, Activism research group. Sandra has a strong background in research related to environmental education and has been recognized with various awards, including the New York University Steinhardt PhD Fellowship and teaching accolades at the University of Nigeria. Her work contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and environmental conservation.
