Dr. Sanjay Rebello

Biography

N. Sanjay Rebello is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Purdue University. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Brown University in 1995, along with a Sc.M. in Physics in 1992 and another Sc.M. in Engineering in the same year. He also holds a B.E. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and an M.Sc. in Physics, both from Birla Institute of Technology & Science in India, awarded in 1989. Rebello's professional experience includes significant roles in various academic institutions, such as serving as a research associate and teaching assistant during his tenure at Brown University. His academic contributions have been recognized through several awards and honors, including the Ernest K. Lillian E. Chapin Chair and the American Association of Physics Teachers Distinguished Service Citation. His research primarily focuses on employing visual cueing and feedback to enhance problem-solving skills in physics education, with an emphasis on STEM learning. As an influential scholar, Rebello has mentored numerous graduate and undergraduate students and continues to advance physics education through innovative pedagogical strategies. Additionally, he is involved in several major research grants aimed at improving science inquiry using physical virtual experiments.
