Biography

Sara Harris is a Professor in the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where she has been teaching since 2015. She served as Associate Dean Academic for the Faculty of Science from 2017 to 2022. Prior to her current position, she was a Senior Instructor from 2010 to 2015, and an Instructor from 2005 to 2010, within the Earth Ocean Sciences department at UBC. Harris has significant experience in oceanography, having worked as a Chief Scientist and faculty member at the Sea Education Association in Woods Hole, Massachusetts from 1998 to 2005. She holds a Ph.D. in Geological Oceanography from Oregon State University, obtained in 1998. Her research interests primarily focus on science education, climate science education, climate change, and environmental science.
