Biography

Sarah Jane Rau began working at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in September 2010. Prior roles included serving as Director of Programs at Midori & Friends, a non-profit organization in New York City, where she provided music programming for public schools across the five boroughs. Her positions in New York City included Education Director at City Lights Youth Theatre, Executive Director of the Opera Company of Brooklyn, and Assistant President at ICM Artists (now known as Opus III). Additionally, she was a Teaching Artist at the Street Music School Settlement. Sarah started her career as a vocal music director for junior high and high school students in Midland, MI, and taught secondary choral methods and voice lessons as an adjunct faculty member at Alma College. She has also been involved in musical productions as a director, performer, and music director, currently serving as the Director of Arbor Consort, a Renaissance vocal ensemble based in Ann Arbor. Rau holds a Master of Arts in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University.
