Biography

Satomi Suzuki-Chenoweth is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Modern Languages at Georgia Institute of Technology. She specializes in Japanese Linguistics and has been a member of the faculty since 2003. Dr. Suzuki-Chenoweth earned her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in 2011 and has contributed significantly to the field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and foreign language pedagogy. Among her notable achievements, she co-developed pioneering synchronous online Japanese courses and served as the Coordinator for the Japanese Program from 2020 to 2024. Her research has been presented at major conferences such as AAAL, ACTFL, CALICO, and AATJ, and her 2013 article in the CALICO Journal was named Article of the Year. Dr. Suzuki-Chenoweth is also an advocate for technology-enhanced learning and was selected for the 2024-2025 Governor’s Teaching Fellows Program to explore AI in the classroom. Additionally, she has engaged in cross-cultural education, enhancing students' understanding of Japanese language and culture, and is currently developing a course integrating Japanese language, history, and technology. With a focus on adult language literacy education and intercultural communication, she strives to build bridges across cultures.
