Biography

Scott Roy Douglas is a professor at the Faculty of Education on UBC’s Okanagan campus, specializing in Language Sciences. He enjoys working with a wide variety of teacher candidates, graduate students, and in-service teachers to explore English as an additional language teaching and learning in K-12 and adult contexts. His particular research interests include English language assessment, English for Academic Purposes, and curriculum materials design. He is the editor of the BC TEAL Journal, which is a peer-reviewed publication by the Association of BC Teachers of English as an Additional Language. His research projects focus on workplace language challenges and the triumphs of newcomers from diverse linguistic backgrounds, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations, as well as the Syilx Okanagan Nation peoples. Scott is highly engaged in educating future educators and is committed to enhancing language learning in various contexts.
