Biography

Professor Sebastian Goerg is a behavioral experimental economist who investigates how incentives and information, as well as legal institutions, influence actual human behavior. He collaborates with co-authors in the social natural sciences and pursues an interdisciplinary research agenda. Goerg studied economics at the University of Bonn, where he obtained his PhD under the supervision of Nobel Laureate Professor Reinhard Selten. From 2009 to 2012, he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods. He has been granted research stays at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Michigan. He joined Florida State University as an Assistant Professor in 2012 and was granted tenure in 2018. In the same year, he joined the Technical University of Munich as a Professor and holds the Chair of Economics at the TUM Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability. Professor Goerg is a Research Fellow at the IZA Institute of Labor Economics and a Research Affiliate at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods.
