Biography

Sergio Burgos received his degree in Agronomy from the Pan-American School of Agriculture and completed his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science at the University of Florida. He obtained his Master's degree in Animal Science from the University of California, Davis, and a doctorate in Animal Science from the University of Guelph in 2009. He joined McGill University as a Postdoctoral Fellow within the Nutrition Food Science Centre Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and later served as a Research Associate at the Research Institute of McGill University Health Centre. In 2015, he became an Assistant Professor in Animal Nutrition and Metabolism in the Department of Animal Science. His research program emphasizes nutrient metabolism, milk production, health benefits of milk consumption, and the environmental impact of dairy production. He uses an interdisciplinary approach that combines traditional metabolic techniques with modern systems biology tools to develop nutritional strategies aimed at enhancing sustainability in animal production and improving human nutrition and health.
