Biography

Sibel Erduran is a Professor in Science Education at the University of Oxford, affiliated with St Cross College. She has previously served as the Chair of STEM Education at the University of Limerick, where she directed the EPI-STEM National Centre for STEM Education. A Fellow of the American Educational Research Association, Erduran is actively involved in the editorial management of several journals, including her previous role as Editor-in-Chief of Science & Education. Recognized for her contributions, she has presented keynote lectures at various international conferences across multiple countries. She completed her PhD in Science Education and Philosophy at Vanderbilt University, following a Master’s in Food Chemistry from Cornell University and a degree in Biochemistry from Northwestern University. Erduran's research interests center around the application of science education and epistemic perspectives, with a specific focus on general chemistry and argumentation.
