Biography

Sinclair Dinnen has a background in socio-legal studies and completed his PhD at the Australian National University in 1996. His doctoral research was conducted as a research fellow at the National Research Institute in Papua New Guinea from 1992 to 1995. He published a pivotal work entitled 'Law Order Weak State: Crime Politics Papua New Guinea' through the University of Hawai’i Press in 2001. His longstanding research interests include regulatory pluralism, comparative criminology, justice, policing, conflict, peacebuilding, and the development of post-colonial state formation studies. Dinnen's work has appeared in leading academic journals such as 'Oceania', 'Contemporary Pacific', 'Conflict, Security & Development', and many others. He has co-edited seven books, including 'Hybridity Ground Peacebuilding Development', published by ANU Press in 2018. His extensive experience includes supervision of research students and active participation in various research projects aimed at addressing issues of law, justice reform, and peacebuilding in the Pacific Islands.
