Dr. Siobhan Hickling

Biography

Siobhan Hickling is a research dietitian and epidemiologist with over twenty years of experience in public health teaching and research practice. She serves as Co-Director of the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Research Centre. Her research encompasses a wide range of areas including cardiovascular disease, nutritional epidemiology, and food security, particularly in the context of climate change. Siobhan is extensively involved in studies that investigate the impact of the built environment on eating behaviors and assesses the effects of climate change on food systems, alongside monitoring the impact of mandatory folate fortification among Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. She holds positions on the Stroke Prevention Advisory Committee of the Stroke Foundation and the Scientific Advisory Council of the Environmental Protection Authority in Western Australia. As an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Cardiovascular Prevention, she focuses on the effective dissemination of research findings and has been recognized for her ability to develop communication strategies tailored to various audiences. With significant teaching experience across institutions, she is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Global Fellowship Mentor. Her expertise aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to public health advancements through education and research.
