Dr. Sofia Rüdiger

Biography

Sofia Rüdiger is currently a guest professor in Anglist linguistics at Freie Universität Berlin. She has been leading a project on the digital discourse surrounding eating entertainment and has a focus on empirical research in English linguistics. Rüdiger’s academic background includes a habilitation in English linguistics from Universität Bayreuth, where she has held various academic positions since 2012. Her recent work addresses topics such as World Englishes with a particular emphasis on Asian Englishes, pragmatics, and digital communication. She has been involved in numerous interdisciplinary research collaborations and has held visiting positions at universities in Australia, Finland, Taiwan, and Switzerland. Rüdiger has published extensively on the linguistic characteristics of various Englishes and is particularly interested in the intersection of language and food. Her contributions to linguistics have received recognition through multiple publications, including books and articles in peer-reviewed journals, highlighting her expertise in both theoretical and applied linguistics.
