Biography

Sophia Diamantopoulou is an Associate Professor at the UCL Institute of Education specializing in Culture, Communication, and Media. With over thirty years of teaching experience in schools, museums, and higher education in the UK and abroad, she leads MA and BA modules on Multimodal Communication and Communication for the Common Good. Her research interests are interdisciplinary, focusing on museum education, visual communication, multimodal social semiotics, and discourse analysis. Sophia supervises MA and PhD students in Applied Linguistics and Museums and Galleries Education, and has been involved in numerous externally funded education projects. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has contributed to the development of the Centre for Multimodal Research since its inception in 2003. As a member of various editorial boards and a co-organizer of international conferences, she actively promotes research in multimodal communication. Her publications cover a wide array of topics including museum learning and children's drawings.
