Biography

Stacy Tantum received a B.S.E.E. in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Tufts University in 1994, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University in 1996 and 1998, respectively. She was a Summer Research Assistant at SACLANT Undersea Research Center during the summer of 1996, where she collaborated on passive sonar research with an international team of scientists. Currently, she is an Associate Professor of the Practice in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Duke University, serving as the Faculty Director of the 360 Coaching Program which focuses on first-year advising in the Pratt School of Engineering. Stacy's research interests include physics-based statistical signal processing, context-aware machine learning, domain-informed data science, neuroscience-informed teaching, metacognition, cognitive load theory, and mindset-aware learning, reflecting her commitment to improving educational practices and understanding complex engineering challenges.
