Biography

Stephan Krusche inspires students in computer science and conducts research at the intersection of educational technologies, software engineering, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence. He developed the open-source learning research platform Artemis, which is used in courses at TUM and European universities to improve teaching and learning. Through automation and artificial intelligence, he aims to reduce the workload for instructors and create more space for personal interaction with students. One notable project of his is the chatbot Iris, which provides didactically useful assistance to students trying to solve programming problems. His dissertation introduced the Rugby process model to improve the quality of software development teaching. He has established the teaching methodology Interactive Learning, which is utilized in various universities across Europe. Additionally, he is involved with the EdTech Center and serves on the board of trustees for Friends of TUM, as well as being a member of the board of directors for the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI). Krusche organizes international summer schools and delivers interactive lectures to over 2,000 students on project courses with industry partners.
