Biography

Stephen’s work focuses on children’s development and education in the Global South. He has extensive experience conducting research, managing projects, and advising on education programmes funded by organizations such as the Department for International Development, UNICEF, and the LEGO Foundation in countries across sub-Saharan Africa including Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. His innovative, interdisciplinary mixed-methods doctoral research, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, concentrated on education adaptability in Rwanda. Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow building on this work with a particular focus on children’s executive functions in the Global South. Initially, Stephen trained and qualified as a lawyer specializing in public-private partnerships and infrastructure projects.
