Biography

Professor Stephen Loo has over 30 years of experience in the fields of architecture, design theory, biophilosophy, posthumanist ethics, performance studies, and ecological humanities. He has published extensively on transdisciplinary nexus design, including significant contributions to architecture philosophy. Holding a PhD in architecture philosophy from the University of Sydney, his recent books include 'Deleuze Architecture' (2012, edited with Helene Frichot) and 'Poetic Biopolitics' (2016, edited with Peg Rawes and Tim Matthews). Currently, he is working on 'Speculative Ethologies', a collaboration with Undine Sellbach that explores the intersections of entomology, psychoanalysis, and ethics. Loo is a founding partner of Mulloway Studio, an award-winning design and architectural firm noted for its participation in the Venice Biennale in 2008 and 2014. His performance-philosophy based art practices have been exhibited internationally in cities like Paris, Berlin, London, and Sydney. He has also held various prominent academic roles, including Visiting Professorships and Chief External Examiner positions at renowned universities worldwide and was involved in key leadership roles in national architectural education bodies.
