Biography
Steven Greening is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Manitoba, where he focuses on neural cognitive mechanisms involved in controlling attention and mental imagery. His research examines how emotional stimuli such as fear-conditioned stimuli and facial expressions can influence cognitive processes like attention, decision-making, and memory. Greening employs a variety of methodologies in his work, including functional magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging, along with psychophysiological measures such as skin conductance response and pupillometry. He aims to understand how emotions affect cognitive capabilities and behaviors through associative learning and behavioral testing. Prior to his current position, Greening served as an Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University for five years, where he contributed to the Cognitive Brain Sciences Department. He holds a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Western Ontario and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California.
