Biography

Steven R. McGreevy is an assistant professor focusing on institutional rurban sustainability studies in the Department of Governance and Technology for Sustainability (CSTM) at the University of Twente. With a background in environmental sociology, he specializes in sustainable development, food systems, and environmental education. His research interests encompass innovative strategies for sustainable bioregional revitalization, sustainable agrifood transitions, and post-growth food systems. Having spent 18 years in Japan, McGreevy has led the FEAST Project, which analyzed food consumption patterns and conducted food system mapping across various contexts. He also co-founded a non-profit organization in 2021 to promote sustainable food policy education. He is a founding member and co-chair of the Future Earth Knowledge-Action Network on Systems Sustainable Consumption Production.
