Dr. Steven Shaw

Biography

Steven Shaw is a professor in the Department of Education at Concordia University in Montreal. His professional work focuses on the design, development, and implementation of technology that supports learning and knowledge sharing, particularly on an enterprise scale within large public and private sector organizations. Shaw co-founded a corporation that developed a 'learning content management system' and served as Chief Learning Officer for Eedo Knowledgeware for a decade. He has worked with leading-edge technology for learning content management and has been employed by Fortune 500 companies such as Xerox, Dell, Eli Lilly, and Boeing, as well as several large public sector organizations in the UK, including the Treasury, the Department of Energy, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He has also consulted for private sector organizations and higher education institutions to develop business cases and blueprints for digital transformation. Shaw was involved in a multi-year project to transform training accreditation in aviation by adhering to a competency-based approach and has played a key role in the development and acceptance of new standards mandated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). His areas of expertise include software development, systems implementation, content management, taxonomy development, and the design and evaluation of training programs and curricula for professional education.
