Biography

Susan Becker is a designer, artist, and educator working in the field of fashion and costume. With expansive experience in the fashion industry, she has held positions in design, marketing, and sales at a variety of companies, from small independent labels to large corporate brands. Over the past twenty-five years, she has designed for both traditional and experimental settings, and has collaborated with notable artists such as Deke Weaver and Jennifer Allen on various projects, including stage and film productions as well as site-specific works. Susan's work also involves significant collaborative performances, particularly with choreographer Jennifer Monson. In addition to her design work, Susan has a substantial teaching background, having developed art and design curricula focused on fashion studies across a range of programs. She previously taught at the Rhode Island School of Design, her alma mater, and currently holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor at the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois, where she has been teaching since 2006.
