Dr. Susan Relly

Biography

Susan James Relly is an Honorary Research Fellow and Deputy Director with extensive experience in education. She completed her B.Ed at Queensland University of Technology and furthered her studies with an MSc in Comparative International Education and a DPhil in Education at the University of Oxford. Throughout her career, Susan has taught in secondary schools in Australia and England, marking the beginning of her academic path. Her research focuses on vocational education and training policy, vocational excellence, apprenticeships, and work-based professional learning, particularly their impact on social mobility and non-graduate occupations. She is involved in several funded research projects aimed at understanding the challenges in mainstreaming excellence in technical education and developing vocational excellence among students. Additionally, Susan welcomes doctoral applications from students sharing her research interests, particularly in vocational education and related fields.
