Sylvie Vandaele holds a state diploma in pharmacy and a Ph.D. in life sciences (molecular pharmacology). She worked in biomedical research until 1995 before transitioning to translation with a postgraduate diploma and a master's degree in translation. She has worked in private practice for major pharmaceutical companies for several years and has been teaching at the Université de Montréal since 2000.
