Dr. Tamar Kushnir

Biography

Tamar Kushnir is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University, where she has been a faculty member since 2021. Her research focuses on cognitive development, exploring themes such as causal learning, social cognition, moral cognition, and cultural psychology. She investigates how children think about agency and make sense of the world, particularly in terms of their moral understandings and social interactions. Additionally, she has contributed to studies on imagination, self-control, and rational constructivist approaches to learning development. Kushnir currently serves as the Associate Chair in her department and holds multiple positions within the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences. Over her academic career, she has authored several articles in prominent journals and has received various grants for her research projects, highlighting her commitment to understanding the nuances of child development and cognition.
