Dr. Tamara Alhilfi

Biography

Tamara Alhilfi joined the Department of Chemistry at University College London as a Lecturer (Teaching). Her research primarily focuses on addressing equity in student experiences, particularly for those from minoritized backgrounds. Currently, she serves as the Admissions Tutor and leads initiatives aimed at improving student success and reducing disparities in good degree attainment among underrepresented groups. Prior to her current role, Alhilfi was a Postdoctoral Researcher at University College London, where she worked in both the School of Pharmacy and The Institute of Ophthalmology. Her academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Liverpool, where her thesis explored novel methods in polymer synthesis, and a Master of Chemistry from the University of Hull. Alhilfi is recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is involved in various outreach and community engagement activities, along with mentoring and external examining responsibilities.
