Dr. Tash Sivananthan

Biography

Tash Sivananthan is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences at Macquarie University. His academic journey in psychology began with an undergraduate degree at Macquarie University, where he later completed his doctoral thesis titled 'Investigating Interaction Processing Colour Emotion' under the supervision of prominent faculty members. His research primarily utilizes experimental psychology techniques to investigate the interplay between cognition and emotion, focusing on cognitive mechanisms involving contextual information, attention, and memory, as well as the effects of color associations on emotional processing. Tash is committed to teaching psychology, which he believes has numerous real-world applications. He takes pride in empowering his students with essential skills in critical thinking and fostering an appreciation for the scientific method. His dedication to teaching excellence has been recognized through student nominations for the Vice-Chancellor's Learning and Teaching Award. Tash teaches several undergraduate psychology units, including courses on foundational psychology, developmental psychology, perception and cognition, psychological assessment, and applied child and adolescent psychology.
