Biography

Thomas Kochan is the George Maverick Bunker Professor of Management, Emeritus at the MIT Sloan School of Management and a faculty member of the MIT Institute for Work and Employment Research. His research primarily focuses on updating America's work and employment policies, institutions, and practices to adapt to a changing workforce economy. He emphasizes the need for a new social contract in work, addressing the implications of current and future technological changes to build an inclusive economy that fosters broad-based prosperity. He is a member of multiple prestigious organizations, including the National Academy of Human Resources and the National Academy of Arbitrators, and has served as the past president of the International Industrial Relations Association and the Industrial Relations Research Association. Currently, he is also involved with the MIT Task Force on the Work of the Future.
