Dr. Thomas Noe

Biography

Thomas Noe is the Ernest Butten Professor of Management Studies at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and a professorial fellow at Balliol College. He is a research associate at the European Institute of Corporate Governance. Before joining Saïd Business School, Thomas held the AB Freeman Chair in Finance at Tulane University. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Banking and Finance and the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy. He has published over sixty papers in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Finance and the American Economic Review. His research primarily focuses on the effects of risk, incentives, information asymmetry, security design, and governance systems. He has dealt with economic problems related to incentive effects and rank-based compensation. He has engaged widely with practitioners and policymakers and has consulted for organizations like the Federal Reserve Bank. Thomas has lectured at numerous industry conferences and has served on various conference organizing committees. He has taught and researched across five continents and has supervised doctoral students at Saïd Business School.
