Biography

Thorsten Pachur is a professor of Behavioral Research Methods at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), having joined the institution in 2022. His research focuses on adaptive cognition, particularly the psychological mechanisms that underpin thinking, reasoning, and decision-making shaped by the structure of the environment. Dr. Pachur utilizes an integrative multi-method approach which includes behavioral experiments, computational modeling, process tracing techniques such as eye tracking, and neuroimaging to explore these topics. He earned his PhD in psychology from the Free University of Berlin in 2006 and completed his habilitation at the University of Basel in 2012. Prior to joining TUM, he worked as a research scientist at the University of Basel from 2006 to 2012, followed by a position as a senior research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development until 2022.
