Tiffany Fryer is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan, where she also serves as Assistant Curator of Historical & Contemporary Archaeology. Dr. Fryer's research interests include colonialism, political violence, collective memory, and community-centric research methods within anthropological archaeology. Her academic background includes a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and both an MA and BA in Anthropology and Archaeology from Stanford University. Her fieldwork primarily takes place in Quintana Roo, Mexico, where she is involved with the Tihosuco Heritage Preservation Community Development Project, a community-based initiative related to the Maya Social War. Dr. Fryer has co-edited collections on feminist approaches in archaeological practice and is currently working on a book manuscript discussing conflict heritage in Mexico’s Maya Frontier. She is also a co-founder of the U-M Center for Community Archaeology & Heritage.
