Tim Steininger is a research associate at the Department of Empirical Teaching and Learning Research at the Institute of Education. He is involved in the EXCITED research project and collaborates on the FACE project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. His research focuses on the acquisition of conceptual knowledge in teacher education, particularly how teacher students utilize examples to develop this knowledge. He examines the effective and efficient conditions under which conceptual knowledge acquisition occurs through examples, aiming to influence the design of teacher training programs in Freiburg. Additionally, he conducts a meta-analysis within the MYCAP project to review research on how autistic individuals categorize objects and living beings. In the interdisciplinary project MINT-ProNeD, he coordinates the Freiburg site in developing training and consultation concepts to foster adaptive, process-oriented, digital-supported innovations in STEM teacher education. He teaches courses on learning theories, research methods, and pedagogical-psychological diagnostics, and serves as an academic advisor for the M.A. in Educational Science: Teaching and Learning.
