Timothy J. Wood received his PhD in Cognitive Psychology from McMaster University and subsequently completed a one-year post-doctoral fellowship in the Program for Educational Research Development (PERD) at the same institution. He spent 12 years as a manager at the Medical Council of Canada (MCC), where he was involved in various development projects, including web-based examinations, the national Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), and examination result reporting. His research interests focus on improving quality assurance measures in assessing learners and developing tools to evaluate the impact of educational interventions, particularly in the area of assessment of clinical skills. A specific area of his research interest is the role of rater cognition and the influence of judgments that raters make. Professor Wood serves as a deputy editor for Advances in Health Sciences Education and is an associate editor for the Journal of Continuing Education in the Health Professions. He has been a member of the executive board of the Canadian Association of Medical Education (CAME) and participated in the Scientific Planning Committee for the Canadian Conference on Medical Education (CCME), including acting as chair for the CCME Abstract Selection Committee. Currently, he is the Director of Student Assessment at the Faculty Evaluation (SAFE) at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa, and Director of the DIME’s Healthcare Education Scholars Program.
