I am an Assistant Professor in Digital Journalism. My teaching and research focus on the role of journalistic processes in the creation and dissemination of information, as well as their impact on the public. A large part of my work centers on the intersection of journalism, algorithms, and social justice. Do journalistic and algorithmic 'gatekeeping' processes prevent minority groups from accessing political decision-making positions? How do the public perceive and evaluate biases in visual information within the online media landscape? How can journalism help mitigate the spread of digital misinformation? I specialize in mixed-methods approaches combining a wide range of methodological frameworks, including observational and experimental designs, qualitative analyses, as well as computational methods and algorithm audits. I completed my trilingual studies at the University of Fribourg, then pursued a doctorate in communication science and political science in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam, while obtaining a Master of Advanced Studies in Data Science from the Bern University of Applied Sciences. I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern, with a one-and-a-half-year visiting fellowship at the University of Wollongong in Australia.
