Biography

Tomer Ullman is a cognitive scientist focused on common-sense reasoning and the development of computational models that explain high-level cognitive processes. His work primarily explores how children and adults formulate intuitive theories about agents and objects, providing functional and algorithmic accounts of these theories. This research contributes significantly to our understanding of the foundations of human intelligence and supports efforts to create human-like artificial intelligence systems. Ullman holds a B.Sc in Cognitive Science and Physics from the Hebrew University, obtained in 2008, and a Ph.D. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT, received in 2015. He was a post-doctoral associate at the Center for Brains, Minds, and Machines from 2015 to 2018. His research is funded by the National Science Foundation and focuses on areas including computational cognitive models, child development, judgment and decision making, and hierarchical reasoning.
