Biography

Tonia Guida is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Texas at Austin. She holds a secondary appointment in the College of Pharmacy and is a faculty affiliate with the Texas Center for Equity Promotion. Dr. Guida earned her B.A. in Sociology and Education Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, her M.Ed. in Higher Education Student Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin, and her Ph.D. in Social Science with a concentration in Comparative Education focusing on Race and Ethnicity from UCLA. With over a decade of experience as a higher education scholar-practitioner, she has worked extensively on student success programs, undergraduate research, pre-college outreach, study abroad initiatives, Summer Bridge Programs, and Inclusive Teaching & Learning strategies. Her research interests include theories of whiteness, educational access, and the creation of socially inclusive contexts in higher education.
