Biography

Canada’s premiere coloratura soprano Tracy Dahl has appeared in opera houses such as Teatro Scala in Milan and the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. With a focus on both performance and pedagogy, Tracy has taught at the Desautels Faculty of Music since 1997, where she specializes in voice. Tracy’s vocal training includes studies at the Banff School of Fine Arts and under the renowned soprano Mary Morrison at the University of Toronto. She has participated in the Merola Opera program in San Francisco and has notable performances in works like Carmina Burana and Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate. Recognized for her acting prowess and vocal agility, Tracy has received multiple awards, including being named a Member of the Order of Canada and one of Canada’s Top 100 Powerful Women. She has contributed to the arts community as a fundraiser and has actively participated in various charity events. As a breast cancer survivor, Tracy leads a team that has raised significant funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. In addition to her teaching, she regularly adjudicates Metropolitan Opera auditions and teaches masterclasses across Canada and the United States.
