Dr. Trine Sonne

Biography

Trine Sonne is an Associate Professor at Aarhus University in the Department of Psychology. She holds a PhD in psychology, focusing on the development of children's memory systems. Her doctoral dissertation investigated infant memory using methods that assess memory in children who have not yet developed language. Over the years, she has concentrated her research on preschool children's memory, particularly in examining their spontaneous recollections, which represent an alternative route to understanding their memory processes. This work has significant implications for fields such as eyewitness psychology, an area she has long been passionate about. Currently, Sonne is engaged in the OMHU project, where she collaborates with colleagues to explore various assumptions about memory, relevant to numerous professional fields including law, police work, social work, and psychology. She is actively involved in organizing conferences and lectures, advocating for improved understanding of child development and memory.
